Types of Preschool Programs in Malaysia

Pre-schooling is an essential part of the education system, and every kid has to get the

right learning experience. Apart from choosing the right kindergarten, it is necessary to

know about different programs offered by pre-schools in Malaysia. Yes, you must know

which teaching method or program is suitable for your child and then enrol them in it.

Here are the programs offered in pre-schools in Malaysia

#1 Montessori

The most popular teaching program was developed in the early 1900s by Dr Maria

Montessori, an Italian physician. Montessori majorly focuses on teaching kids the five

senses through listening, reading, and watching. Kids in Montessori come from different

age groups ranging from 3 to 6 years. There are Montessori centers in Malaysia that offer

this teaching program.

#2 Reggio Emelia

Originated in Italy, the Reggio Emilia teaching method was introduced to cater to the

growing need of society after World War II. In Reggio Emelia, the kids are look up to

with full potential and consider them to create theories. In this system, children have the

right to develop their skills with little control over their learning. It is not much known in

Malaysia. But some kindergartens practice the Reggio Emelia approach.

#3Waldorf

Based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the Waldorf approach entails teachers

developing children in two primary ways. First, they will engage in domestic and artistic

activities like gardening, painting, handicraft, etc. Second, the teacher nurtures their

imagination according to their age.

All these teaching methods are used in pre-schools in Malaysia, and you must choose

which approach will be better for your kid’s development.
